Vikomar lies near the biggest spawning areas for Norwegian spring-spawning herring.

With this background, there was established a herring meal factory here in 1950.

There was a large fleet that ran the winter fishing for herring on the North West coast, at first with drift nets, and later with purse seines.

The reception of herring for different uses was established in almost every harbour.

Vikomar A/S was established in 1990 and has since then been freezing herring and mackerel.

We have developed the company to be among the largest and most modern cold storage plants in Norway for pelagic fish.
